Aerators

Thanks to a legislative allocation through the VT Agency of Natural Resources, the PMNRCD was able to purchase two aerators for on-farm use. The larger one (photo below) is a 15' aerator with wings that fold up to a 10' width for ease of road travel. The second aerator is 8'9". Both are Gen-Till models.

Farms that use the aerators for injecting liquid manure on perennial hayland or on minimum tillage cornland are eligible for cost-share funding of up to $12/acre from the VT Agency of Agriculture. Use of the aerators is scheduled through PMNRCD and is free of charge. See the Rental Agreement for further information. PMNRCD has also received several sources of funding to conduct on-farm research with the aerators during 2010. On-farm test side-by-side test plots will evaluate the effectiveness of the aerators under local conditions.
